"Universidad Regional Amazónica Ikiam is a higher education institution, a non-profit organization, a legal entity, and a public institution, that offers higher education opportunities with academic, administrative, financial and organizational autonomy, consistent with the principles laid down by the Ecuadorian Constitution and the Primary Law of Higher Education. 0000000 Ikiam (which means rainforest in Shuar, an indigenous language from the region) is located in Muyuna (Napo Province) in the Ecuadorian Amazon, 8 kilometers away from the city of Tena. It is situated near the origin of the most important river basin on the planet and the home of the largest global biodiversity. The University is located on 246 hectares of land, adjacent to the Biological Reserve Colonso-Chalupas (Reserva Biológica Colonso-Chalupas - RBCC)."
